Dev Christos is a web development and consulting practice based in Elk Grove, California.
The practice works with nonprofits, churches and mission-driven organizations across the greater Sacramento area. Aaron Lee owns it, and the person you speak to about a project is the person who does the work.
That arrangement has obvious limits. A single practice does not take on everything, and an organization needing a large team is better served by a larger firm. What it does offer is that nothing is relayed through an account manager, and there is no version of a project where the person who understood the requirements has moved on to another client.
The focus on nonprofits and congregations is a deliberate narrowing rather than a marketing angle. Those organizations share a set of problems that commercial clients do not have: budgets approved by committee, staff turnover among the people who maintain the site, volunteers with varying technical comfort, and a mission that has to be explained to strangers before anyone will act on it.
How the practice operates
Every site built here is owned by the organization that paid for it. That includes the code, the domain and the hosting account. There is no arrangement where a client rents its own website or loses access by ending a relationship.
Work is quoted against written scope rather than an hourly estimate, and the scope names who is responsible for the content, since content is what delays most projects.
Recommendations are made against measured data where measurement is possible. Search volume and competitive difficulty for a given term can be checked rather than guessed, and it is worth checking before deciding what to build.
